Rural Education outreach program
Access to prevention education and safety resources for all…
At Safe Start we let current infant and child injury data and trends drive all that we do. Our operational structure that includeds nationally recognized experts in their fields along with an active, engaged and supportive board of directors and an incredible team of volunteers all over the region perfectly position us to respond quickly and better serve children and families that data tells us so desperately need it.
This was the genesis of our REO program. When we realized that children born into rural communities are 5X as likely to be killed in car crashes, more than 6X as likely to be using incorrect child restraints or no child restrains at all and that child passenger safety misuse rate in rural communities is as high as 91% we knew we had t do something.
We spent the next year and a half researching, planning and developing our REO program. Launched in the Summer of 2023 our REO program is designed to allow us to travel to rural communities throughout Idaho, Washington and Montana and provide our entire slate of child passenger and infant sleep safety prevention education classes as well as our safety resources.
By traveling to rural communities and serving our region’s families right in their own hometown we are working to remove as many barriers as possible to obtaining the life-saving services we provide. Because of our new REO program no child in our service area will have to go without a safe space to sleep in or a safe seat to ride in.
Our Rural Education Outreach (REO) Program is designed to provide access to our life-saving prevention education and safety resources to families living in historically underserved communities.
